One of the unavoidable themes that emerged schlepping around London for the walks in This Other London was the relationship between London suburbia and sitcoms. Here’s Wolfie Smith and the Tooting Popular Front in the 70’s classic Citizen Smith.
Was walking through St Pancras Station last night and saw this brilliant pianist playing one of the pianos on the concourse that people are invited to play.

Great review of This Other London on Londonist
‘The author’s love of exploration is infectious. Anyone who reads This Other London will find themselves with an unexpected itch to visit the Welsh Harp Reservoir or Hounslow Heath. At the very least, you’ll find yourself varying your walk into work, looking for tell-tale gradients and unusual flora.
Buy this book if you have even the merest pebble of interest in your surroundings.’
