A first look at the fantastic Field Notes Summer 2025 edition*. This is a special set of pocket notebooks in collaboration with author Robert Macfarlane for the publication of his book Is A River Alive? Stanley Donwood, who designed the cover of Is A River Alive?, created these beautiful covers for the Field Notes Summer 2025 special edition. I also take a look at Robert Macfarlane’s essential book. This is a perfect pairing – Macfarlane is a Field Notes user and there was one in his pack for the journeys undertaken for the writing of the book. I’m only 40 or so pages into Is A River Alive? but it’s already populating a notebook with quotes and notes.
